The incident occurred in northern Sydney, where a vehicle struck a group of pedestrians, resulting in multiple casualties. The crash happened on Sunday, during what was expected to be a peaceful gathering. Witnesses reported that the driver lost control of the vehicle, leading to a collision with the crowd. Among those injured were a grandfather and his two granddaughters, aged five and two. The family of the young girl critically injured has called out to Knights fans, expressing their distress.
This is not the first time the Newcastle Knights have been linked to a tragic event. The team recently reached its first grand final in 25 years, drawing large crowds to the city. The crash occurred in the same area where fans had gathered to support the team. Police have confirmed that the incident is not believed to be related to terrorism. The driver remains in custody as investigations continue.
