A car struck multiple pedestrians, including several children, near a major road where fans were gathering to farewell the Newcastle Knights ahead of the NRL grand final. The incident occurred as crowds lined the street to celebrate the team’s journey to the grand final. Witnesses reported the collision happened quickly, with the vehicle hitting a group of people who were standing on the roadside.
Emergency services were called to the scene and provided medical assistance to the injured. Local authorities confirmed the incident was under investigation. The Newcastle Knights are set to play in the grand final, a key event in the National Rugby League season.
This is not the first time such an incident has occurred at large sporting events. In recent years, there have been several reports of road safety concerns during fan gatherings for major matches. Organizers have been urged to improve crowd control measures and ensure safer access routes for spectators. The incident highlights the need for increased vigilance in high-traffic areas during large public events.
