Russian strikes killed at least four people in Ukraine overnight, according to officials. The attacks targeted multiple regions, with casualties reported in both eastern and central parts of the country. A separate strike hit an industrial site, cutting power to thousands in the north.
The violence coincided with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to the United Nations in New York. During his trip, Zelenskyy met with U.S. Senators and expressed gratitude for bipartisan support and recent sanctions against Russia. The attacks occurred just days before his planned meeting with former U.S. President Donald Trump.
Ukrainian forces responded by damaging a Russian oil refinery in a long-range strike. Officials noted that the attacks were carried out using advanced Russian weaponry, including new jet-powered drones that are more difficult to intercept.
Russian captors are also reportedly using Ukrainian prisoners of war to create propaganda videos, a practice that has drawn international condemnation. The situation remains tense as both sides continue their military operations.
